Parsons Chairs Slipcovers
Named after the Parsons School of Design in New York City where it was first created, the Parsons chair is a stylish, versatile, and comfortable chair that makes a statement in any room.
You can identify a Parsons chair by its clean, simple lines and lack of ornamentation. It typically features a high, straight back and a cushioned seat that is often upholstered. The chair’s legs are also straight, making it a piece of furniture that easily blends with a wide array of interior styles, from traditional to contemporary.
The slipcover fabric I used was an import from the House of Hackney in England. It’s an organic cotton velvet.
I made six slipcovers with a twist – I had to allow a space in the front so people could place their feet on the bottom rung of the chair base while covering the legs of the chair.
This was the most exquisitely beautiful and luxurious fabric I’ve ever worked with! The colors are intense and dense, and the pattern was complex with a large repeat. It was a challenge, but I loved making these beautiful covers.
